kuvat: Reija Stenius

TERVETULOA!

What makes the city a city? It is not easy to define a city; it has no walls, no floor or ceiling and it is in constant metamorphosis. The main shapers of the cities are construction sites and construction site workers. They operate in this great space in-between, they destroy and rebuild new. In many ways these sites are invisible to the passers-by.

Construction site workers limit our passageways with fences and signs. People of our times have learned to read and follow signs like the paths in the forest of the days gone by, almost unconsciously. Yet still, a city could not function without them.

Raksabuto plays with the allowed and the banned, with borders and breaking the borders. The performance wants to raise questions about the use of city spaces. It becomes a peculiar dance where every day situations transform into a surreal game.

Raksabuto is a dance performance that combines Japanese butoh dance, contemporary dance and contemporary circus. In butoh dance the movement is born through inner images and impulses.
